ok, so here's the deal, i got this 1979 volvo 244 dl for free, the owner said that the timing belt is bad, but i took the plastic cover off to see if it was, oh and it was turning over before i did that, but the timing belt was fine, so i put the plastic cover back on and now it's not starting...

the car last night was acting like it was running on three out of four cylnders and this morning it wouldt start the fuel pump kicks but i wouldt rule it out what els could it be thanks

I have an 1989 240 series, 5spd with a cracked engine block. I am wondering what other model engines are compatable that I could possibly install - something perferabley with a bit more power.
