    Some questions regarding Nutrient Agar (NA) and Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA)?

    First, how come not all species of bacteria and fungi can grow on NA and PDA, respectively? And second, why are NA and PDA plates incubated at 37 degrees Celsius and at room temperature, respectively? Thank you! :D

    What is the best agar medium to use to select for Staph. areus?

    I would like to do plate counts from food samples (fruit) for staphylococcus areus. I have CLED medium, but I find that the fungus within the sample grows as a lawn, making it difficult to determine plate counts. Which medium would improve this?
