bedding

Whats a better bedding hay or wood shavings? The reason im asking is that ive been told wood shavings or saw dust can be irritant?

I know Carefresh is the best, but it is painfully expensive. So I'm switching to Aspen. Is it good?

Yep. Just don't use cedar! Aspen is about the next best thing to the carefresh bedding, it's just not as soft! There are a few other brands out there also, like boxo.

I am a totally inexperienced dwarf hamster owner, i have not gotten my hamster yet so i just want some heads up and pointers. Do i need a special bedding for my hamster or are the shavings fine? Do i need to buy them those special little cotton fluffs or fleece beds for them? Thanks for the help!

When i first got my guinea pigs i used carefresh bedding. The cover says it lasts 2x longer than pine.It was fine for the first few days. Once i got to the 4th or 5th day, the cage totally stunk!x( Any bedding suggestions???
