My daughter's fire bellied newt has developed red spots on its back. It looks like the surface of its skin is rubbed off in these spots. Any suggestions as to what this might be?

hes about 3 inches at the most right now and i just got him tuesday he dosent seem to like the flake food i have and i bought some shrimp pellets yesterday but they are more for bottom feeders and he dosent care to much for those either. What kind of food should i buy him and could he eat oscar...
