i've got the side covers, nose cone and all of the nuts, bolts and snap rings i can get to off. i've pulled the differential out, and i've got the end of the actual gearbox portion of it about an 1/8th of an inch from the rest of it. it feels like something is hanging me up though. i don't know...

So, while taking apart this DVD drive, I accidentally broke (as in "clean snapped") some of its inner circuitry.
This Dvd drive is about 3 years old, and I'm nervous that I may have exposed myself to lead.
