    Transmission on 1997 Dodge Caravan Downshifting Sporadically?

    There's an old 1997 Dodge (Grand?) Caravan we may buy as a second "junky, everyday" vehicle. It does fine except, besides reverse being out, it also sometimes will downshift to 2nd or 3rd gear around 60mph. This causes the tachometer, which will normally be around 2000 rpm at this speed...

    Jerky downshifting: how to shift more smoothly?

    How can I correct my downshifting (e.g. 4th to 3rd to 2nd) so that it isn't so jerky? Whenever I do it I get a sudden rev and afterwards the car jumps forward a little bit. I've read about rev-matching but never fully understood how to do it. Help please?

    when do you blip the throttle when you down shift. Before, During, or After the shift and how high does the rev have to be when you blip it.

    Do you have to rev-match when downshifting a bike as much as you do in a car?

    When I'm dricing my car, I love to rev-match on the down shifts so the car doesn't buck and jerk crazy (and it saves the clutch). On a motorcycle, is this behavior even more noticeable, or do you not need to bother blipping the throttle on the downshift?
