    What are the differences between "Freeride" and "XC" hard tail Mountain Bikes?

    What are the differences between "Freeride" and "XC" hard tail Mountain Bikes? I'm looking for something I can ride comfortably on and off road, can someone help me with the pros/cons of each of the above? Specifically I'm comparing a 2008 Brodie Brute to a 2007 Cannondale F5. Thanks!
