is the Suzuki gsxr also called the gixxer? IF so, how it is pronounced, "Jixxer", or "Gixxer"

so im not a complete noob at bikes. im almost 17 ive ridden a 125 dirt bike for about four years, so i know the "basic controls." ive also driven a 600 and a 1000 before and had no trouble with those. but what do you think about getting one of my own? any opinions are welcome

Ok, All my buddies have bikes and ive always wanted to get one. So now its my time im really lookn at a couple gixxers at my local shop here and online, my question is am i paying for the name. Theres some other Suzuki off models that seem way cheaper with close to the same setup and look. Now...
