...current highschool? I really like the philosophies of unschooling. The idea of that freedom to explore the topics I want to at the pace and time that I want to is very appealing to me as an academic. I don't want this freedom so that I can goof of, anything but. I love the idea of one day...
It seems that the only reason parents home school is :
1 - to prevent them from learning about evolution or sex
2 - their kid is getting picked on.
Can anyone tell me that THEY PERSONALLY homeschool for a different reason? I want REAL examples, not made up or hypothetical

And if I get one from America is that alright for me to use for homeschooling in the uk and by the way I'm in year 10 (uk) in America I think that's grade 9 but I'm not so sure any help would be awesome :0)
do I do it? I am the legal guardian of my 14 year old grand daughter, and she wants to be home schooled, so she was planning on taking high school online. She has gone to a public school all of her life, and wishes to change that. I want to get her started in homeschooling as soon as possible...

Does the sole influence of mom and dad deprive those kids of the everyday life experiences with others they will need to navigate through adult life?
I mean nobody's perfect and a one way view of the world has got to include some deficiencies ?
