i have done this before but forgot how iv downloaded the software and am stuck were i have to find my firmware in my comp were can i find it. im running a pc on windows 7

I am getting an iTouch 4G the 8GB version for Christmas and I don't know if I should jailbrake it. What I'm worried about how it voids the warranty and that it might be to confusing to use. Can someone suggest me a good answer. A good explanation will get the best answer.
