My temp gauge keeps going into the red when i drive. Is the head gasket gone is the thermostat gone or what can cause this to happen. i am listening to a lot of people with a lot of solutions. Is it normal for a head to go on a jeep of this year. thanks in advance for a possible solution.

When the engine is on and its moving suddenly it makes a whining sound the engine is on but it feels as if the right wheel is not rolling smoothly. It happens for around 3 to 5 secs then everything is normal. I also feel a thud when this episode gets over.
