well, if it wasn't kept in the fridge. i mean, if the agar was poured into it, left to cool, then the bacterial solution is added and the lid placed on the dish, why does it need to be kept outside the incubator b4 incubation?
How do you dispose of used petri dishes? I have no biohazard bags and I'm not about to go out and buy bleach. So do I just throw them in the trash or what? Also I do not have any intention of incinerating them. They reek and the bacteria is growing. Help
The cameras in our cell phones have dramatically changed the way we share the special moments in our lives, making photographs instantly available to friends and family. Now, the imaging sensor chips that form the heart of these built-in cameras are helping engineers at the California Institute...
grocery stores? Given all the other technological advances in the last 10-20 years I'd have thought most burger meat would be grown in large vats in a factory by now
i am doing a science project on how does the rate of bacterial growth in dog saliva and human saliva compare. i have non sterile petri dishes and i dont have agar. so i am planning to use gelatin.by the way what jello is the same as agar? And can I use non sterile petri dishes for the...

I'm doing a science experiment and i have to present it in two days. I'm not sure how long the samples will last or what temperature to store them at. Keep in mind that the germs have already been grown. Also is there any way I can classify them by just looking at them? Thanks a lot!
Thanks! any...
I am doing a science fair about bacteria and I have about 10, 3 and a half inch diameter petri dishes. How much water and agar should I mix together to fill all ten and allow bacteria to grow? Do I need to sterilize my tea pot when I boil it, and if I do...how would I do that with everyday house...

a few days ago i went through the normal steps of this project..but by now i realized that the inside of the dishes are filled with a lot of moisture. i think i may have used to much water on the tip of the cotton swabs that i swabbed surfaces with..should i restart the project and use less...
I'm doing a science project in 7th grade about which cleansing product works best on a mirror. How would i count the bacteria? Would i use centimeters squared? I have no idea!
For a project I designed, I grew bacteria from my finger on a petri dish with agar in it. Now, a bunch of various bacterial species are present in the dish. I would like to identify s. epidermis, if possible without a microscope. How could I do so? And if I did use a microscope, how could I...
For a research project, I need to get enough agar to fill up about 25-30 100x15 mm Petri dishes. I've never done anything with bacteria and stuff before, so I'm gonna need some help with this. The site that I'm purchasing the "agar powder" from comes in amounts of 10, 25, 50, 100, and 500.
