Let's say I jump on the comments area of someone else's blog post and say, "Male Celebrity is a jerk because he beats up Female Celebrity!" Then I post. Then, later on, I realize I should have said "... because he ALLEGEDLY beats up..." But I can't edit the comment because it's not my blog...
