Why did Salman Rushdie refer to the song "I Am the Walrus" several times in Haroun and the Sea of Stories? I know that there is a walrus and eggmen in both the song and the book... but why?? who is the walrus??

And how many people who actually read it thinks this author still deserves a death contract on him? I never read it myself. But many people who did read it found it overly wordy and anything but controversial?

maybe he didn't care what they think, i mean he must have known it would cause an outrage and he still went ahead with it.
