I have Samsung SGH-X830 mobile i am facing some problem, I cant play music, and take pictures,says unsupported file...everything is so wrong! Please help me

i have just got this phone and i was wondering if there is anyway to stop the mp3 player being displayed on the front of the phone every time it is shut?
i would love to be able to put a picture or something in its place instead.
any ideas would be greatfully appreciated
