    Do I need a visa for the U.S. if I go to Canada on a WHV for a year?

    my flight transit via the US and the overall stay is > 90 days in North America. I am not eligible for the visa waiver. I will be staying 3 nights in NYC when I land and then taking the train to Montreal.
