1981 toyota pickup 22r new motor or rebuild it?

i have a 1981 toyota pickup with the 22r motor in it, i have recently found out that the bearings and crank are shot but i can't find a motor for less than 1,000 dollars and i cant afford that.. what should i do cause i need a reliable truck that will last but i cant affor 1,000 motor Please HELP!
 
Look at salvage yards, import resales, and craigslist. I know you can find a 22r engine with low mileage for less than $1,000. These engines can handle 300,000 plus miles if maintained correctly. A machine shop would be good for the right price because they may have a warranty and you would get the comfort of a fresh engine. Good luck!
