My son bought a 1994 bmw 318. He hit something in the street and a rim was bent; verdict, cannot be fixed. The rim was 17 x 8j and I bought a new tire. But the spare rim is also bent and the tire was no good. I was advized to get 2 rims now. I found rims 17 x 8j but they were from a suburu, so the repair shop said they wouldn't work. The shop rep.said I have to get the 1994 BMW rims which came with the car. I found a salvage yard with these rims. This man told me I cannot put the 15 inch rims which came with the car on a car that has 17 inch rims in the front. He also said that if I did get the original size rims from, I would have to purchase two new tires.
I am going crazy. One person, who works in another garage says that "any 17 inch rim will do". It was difficult enough to figure out what these numbers mean, nevermind all the searching through ads and salvage yards. I NEED HELP

do NOT put bigger wells than 15" ins you will damage wheel bearings and do NOT let any one tell you any thing else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I meen it!!!!!!!!!!

It depends on what the tire profile is so i cant really answer the question, my guess is 18 or 19in.
