I am looking at buying a 1994 Mitsubishi Ecliplse with 184,000 miles. it has a 1.8l 5 speed and I was looking to purchase it for 500.00. The guy said he ran it hot and blew the head gasket, he then took it to a local shop and said it needed a head gasket. (The car is not running). I can probly do the work myself I just was wanting to know if it was worth it??

If it was overheated the head is warped for sure and it could be ruined and need replaced.I would check on the price of a rebuilt head.
 
if its just the head gasket and you know what your doing it is worth it.
 
its kinda worth it. a head gasket isnt that much only about 25$ and its easy to fix. if the body work isnt all rusted out and the trannys good and all the buschings it should be a good deal. u just gotta check out whats under the hood before you buy it..
