I recently purchased a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The check engine light was on, I took it to autozone and had them run a scan on it...It came up two o2 sensors were bad...I took it in and had the two o2 sensors replaced....Got it back today today the check engine light came back on after 15 minutes away from the shop...Took it back to autozone had another scan done on it, they said another o2 sensor is bad and that there is 4 o2 sensors in this jeep that i bought. Is there four o2 sensors? The problem I'm having with the jeep is....It drives fine for a while, then all of a sudden it acts like it is out of gas and just wants to die...it happens while driving and stopping at red lights. Mechanic ran a compression test on the fuel pump and everything checked out that way...Anyone that could comment on the subject with any knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you

First of all the 8 dollar an hour code readers at autozone did a free code read. They think that the check engine light on every vehicle comes on because of o2 sensors. I would take them the bill for the o2 sensors and have them reimburse you for their idiocy. Then I would take it to a Real shop that does Proper diagnostics and pay to have it checked by a professional, not a parts counter person. And yes, there are four O2 sensors. I doubt that any of them are bad or were bad. This is exactly what you get for FREE. Bad advice.

It is possible to have O2 sensors go faulty one after the other. As far as the light coming back on, you should go back to the repair shop you had the O2 replaced at, tell them the light is back on and have them take it from there. It might be their faulty part or another. In either case, have them diagnose the problem properly. My question is, did the free code read from the parts store guy (not a mechanic) tell you it had an O2 code or a lean or rich code and say (not diagnose) you needed O2 sensors?
