good idea or no? I am looking for a NICE used car, which is safe. Through a friend, I can get they're old "spare"- it's a nice looking vehicle, nicely maintained, and NO kids:):)

The price is 3500- is this a good deal? I know the blue book is a lot higher. My main concern is that the cost to repair will be a lot, it does have high miles, but doesn't a car with 60,000 miles have the same chance of giving out if it hasn't been maintained?

This car has all service records from a Lexus dealer...

Please, I'd like some advice on this... thanks!

Get it. If you treat it nice, it should easily make 300,000. If you drive 10,000 miles or less a year, it should last you a few years, but repairs could run $1,000 to $2,000 for control arms, ball joints, etc.... If the roads are relatively smooth near you, all the better. Lexus is relatively bullet proof. I own an LS400, SC300, and an SC430 and have had NO problems over 8 years other than expected maintenance issues (e.g., filters, timing belts, plugs, muffler/exhaust, etc.). Lexus has been great to me, and I understand that their older models are even better in some respects (mechanically, reliability) than the latest models.

Having the service records should provide you with some added peace of mind.

My sister has had the RX 300, 330 and GX470 and thought they were great. She liked the 300 a little more than the 330 which had a nagging "ticking" noise to the engine that could get on one's nerves after awhile. Otherwise, she never had any complaints/problems.
