2000 bmw 323i wont start?

i have a 2000 bmw 323i and i was driving home and all of a sudden it just shut off the car is fine all the electric works in the car it cranks and everything but just wont start and i got it towed to a mechanic hes trying to change all sensors like the crank sensor and sensors related with the fuel pump but hes saying theres a chance that the computer(ecu0 of the car might be bad because theres no electric in the pump or gas pumping out and the computer costs about 2000 which is worthless for me to get so does anyone have any idea
