2000 Dodge Caravan rear heat leaking?

Loosing coolant rapidly. It looks like the rear of the van is supplied with it's own hot water supply. It is leaking near the cat converter and the supply pipe is pretty rotted. Can I abandon the rear heat and just cut the pipes and cap them off?

Yes there are a pair of steel lines that run to the rear heater core and you could have them blocked or capped off if you chose to do so but your rear seat passengers might miss the heat.
