My gf just bought a 2001 Jetta VR6 and a couple days after she had it the check engine light came on and it started to shake a lot when you were stopped at like a red light for example and when you would acclerate it felt like it was cutting out, it would kinda jump a little bit and every time it would have trouble going the engine light would flash. The guy we bought it from is a mechanic so he took a look at it and said 2 of the "spark plug wires" were bad so he replaced them and it ran perfect after. Now, 2 days later its starting to do it again and the check engine light is back on. I'm probably going to call the guy again tomorrow but I am wondering if anyone knows what it could be? I dont know much about cars but should he only have changed 2 of the wires or all of them? Im debating wether to have this guy take a look at it again. Thanks.
From what I know the guy had it serviced before he sold it including new tires and brakes. Im not sure why he didnt change them all, like I said the guy I bought it from was the one who replaced them for me for free. So could it possible be that he needs to change the rest of them?
