2002 VW Jetta Shaking?

I have a 2002 VW Jetta. It vibrates when I get around 40MPH and stops when I let off of the gas.
I had the tires rotated and balanced and there was no change.
It seems to be changing gears fine as well.
Any help so that I can go in a shop with a little direction?

My best guess is that you've got a problem either with a motor mount or cv joint, but I suspect that a motor/transmission mount is most likely at fault. Since it seems like your putting a load on the vehicle is when it seems to happen: when you shift gears, there is no load on the mounts or cv joint.. The best thing to do is to take to the repair garage and have them drive the vehicle and experience what the vehicle is doing. In this way they can be sure to know what they are looking for and are able to duplicate the concern and also verify the repair has been done correctly.
