i have a 2005 jeep wrangler, and when i tried to install the front sway bar links, the stud on the links snapped when i was ratcheting the nut on. i slipped the stud through the mounting hole, and then i used a ratched to get the bolt on. the stud was not totally through the hole, but i figured i could get it all the way through when i tightened the nut down. should i have done this with the front of the car up on a jack? i never did this project before. thanks in advance

the front wheels need to be level with each other. set the front on jack stands at the same height or ramps under the tires. replacement links are cheep at local auto parts stores. if you use it off road get disconnect links they allow more flex in the suspension for off road use yet maintain drivability on road.
