they are not making hummers anymore, last I saw, that may affect future costs for repairs regarding parts prices. However imports are more costly in parts than domestic. Hummer has worse gas mileage than toyota, and insurance might be higher on hummer, because it is a fricking tank and you can cause more damage to people and other cars. look at final costs, and if money is issue toyota is better choice. I like the hummer better though, myself.

The Hummer H3 is GM (soon to be sold off) POS. The only engine available is 3.7L V6. The 4Runner is available in a 4.7L V8 that tows a whole lot more. Aside from engine size the 4Runner is a much nicer vehicle inside and out. A friend of mine bought one for his wife (Limited V8) and kids (4 years old and 1 year old). She loves it and he likes to drive it too. In a vehicle this size you will really regret not getting the V8. People seem to have this idea that smaller engines get better mileage, this is not true when the smaller engine is underpowered for the vehicle. The Hummer H3 is underpowered. The power from the 4Runner V8 demands less when it doesn't have to work as hard. At the end of the day, GM will let you down. Toyota will always be there for you. It's a great vehicle and Toyotas tend to hold their value longer. I still see 4Runners that are more than 15 years old. How often can you say that about GM products?
