A couple days ago, we looked at the 2011 AL MVP candidates. Now, let’s take a look over at the National League. In the NL, there are a number of hitters having great years. It’s difficult to narrow it down to the top five but here are the leading candidates for the 2011 National League MVP award.
5. Matt Kemp, Los Angeles Dodgers
Matt Kemp is evolving into a superstar. His numbers are outstanding: .317 batting average, 11 homers and 33 RBIs.
4. Jay Bruce, Cincinnati Reds
A number of Reds are hitting the ball well … but Jay Bruce is their best hitter right now.
3. Prince Fielder, Milwaukee Brewers
When it comes to a pair of teammates, Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun can bash with any duo.
2. Ryan Braun, Milwakee Brewers
Ryan Braun is leading the NL in homers (12) and RBIs (37). Oh, and he’s hitting .300.
1. Lance Berkman, St. Louis Cardinals
Talk about a comeback. Lance Berkman has come back from the grave to be the leading candidate for the 2011 NL MVP. He’s hitting .338 with 11 homers and 35 RBIs.
