Up to a few weeks before you give birth your breasts/nipples can leak a fluid called Colostrum. Colostrum is full of essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. Colostrum tends to be a little thick and can very between clear or cream colored. It is also completely normal for it not to leak all the time. The milk does not come in right away. If you are going to breast feed, colostrum is EXTREMELY healthy for the baby, and carries a much richer supply of the vitamins that the milk will have, so it very safe for your baby to feed on it. Your milk will come in anywhere from 2-4 days AFTER you give birth. When your milk comes in, you will know it, because your breasts will increase in size (could be as much as 2 full cup sizes), and will become hard, and tender/sore. I hope I was able to help. Good luck and congratulations on the pregnancy!

yes you will...milk usually comes in 3 to 4 days after the baby is born. there will be colostrum "golden serum" when your baby is born.

Yeah, the yellowy colored stuff is colostrum, which is what the baby eats for the first few days. After you have the baby, the placenta gives out a hormone signaling your milk production, so you won't actually have milk for a few days after baby is born. But, the colostrum is full of great stuff for the baby and they really need that before the real stuff gets there :)

Good luck!!

It's totally normal....everything you said is normal. I actually pumped 2 oz. of colostrum from each breast about 10 days before I had my baby...I was trying to go into labor :)

You should have plenty of milk within a couple days of delivery and don't get worried about whether or not you're starving your baby in those days it takes for your milk to start. Your baby has a very tiny stomach and a couple teaspoons of liquid is enough.
