I’m getting a little tired of the “Strong is the New Skinny” meme (see the Facebook group, and this article), or at least the way it’s coming across. Focusing on strength over skinniness is an improvement of sorts, but one inevitably illustrated by photos of super-strong women who are still skinny, almost always white, and almost always with long, straight ponytails (bonus: sometimes with breast implants, which are not very helpful in weightlifting).
