5MP camera or 8MP camera on a smartphone?

im looking to get either a Galaxy Nexus or a Nexus 4. The difference is that the Nexus 4 has a 8mp camera and 1080p video recording and the Galaxy Nexus has a 5mp camera with 1080p video recording. is there really a quality difference between 5mp and 8mp? cause i could save alot of money buying the Galaxy Nexus...

Either way you're getting a great phone because they're both nexus devices. Don't base your decision on which one has the better camera because it doesn't matter what mp the camera is unless you're blowing the picture up and making it bigger. but in my opinion go with the nexus 4 because it'll be cheaper . 16gb for 350 unlocked, You can't go wrong with that.

The Nexus 4 has the better camera, but the Galaxy Nexus isn't bad. From online reviews the Galaxy Nexus camera is decent but not fantastic. Average, really. How important is image quality to you?

Megapixels aren't the whole story. There are 8 megapixel cameras that take better pictures than 13 megapixel ones. The only way to tell the good cameras from the bad is to test each model.
