89 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 wiper problem?

Hey I am about to buy a 1989 Chevy Silverado 1500. The only problem is that the windshield wipers and the brights dont work. I checked the fuses and none are blown. I was thinking about replacing the Wiper motor, Turn Signal Switch, and the Turn Signal lever because the brights and wiper controls are on that lever. Could someone advise me as to what I should replace first? I would hate to spend money on parts I dont need.
 
if you have no loose wires replace the multi switch (turn signal wiper switch)On those switches when you go to remove one from the column don't cut any of the wires you will have about a two foot section of wires and it runs down under the dash and will connect into a white plastic union.with a blue rectangle plug on one side and a black one on the other side.You will have to use a small screw driver but it will slide out.No wires disconnect any where but there if you do you will mess up the unit.under the steering wheel (you will have to remove it)on the side you have 4 torx bit screws to remove and the whole unit comes off the only thing You should cut are the wire ties that hold the wires together but no wires.I hope this helps.I messed up the first two switches i had to take off.so that's why i'm trying to help you by my mistakes each unit was about $30 to $50 that I cut and messed up.I never made that costly mistake again.lol
