91 chevy 1500 loss of power during heavy acceleration.?

hey i have a 91 chevy 1500 over the past few days i have been noticing a large loss of power during heavy acceleration. when dring home tonight i would notice it a little when i would take off. but when i got on my way home and was doing about 50 i hit the gas to get up to speed and the truck had a real hesitation to it. it jerked the truck. let off the gas and it was fine, gradually try to increase and it was fine also. i am not sure if this is a fuel problem or a bad catalytic converter. any help that someone can give me would be great. thanks
