A crumble topping for cooked fruit.?

The actual fruit is an Asian guava, when cut and cooked green(hard) it looks and tastes much like apple. After the fruit is basically cooked with the sugar and spices, how can I make a crumble type crust for the top.
Note: I know how to make a cookie crust, but would like to do from scratch, with flour, sugar, butter, and.......? Thanks.
