I s'pose this is a tad unusual, as I'm not looking for any specific genre or theme.
I'm looking for any anime, produced within the past fifteen years or so, preferably, that for whatever reason, never become popular, or well-known. You know the type, there's a few mixed in every time the new anime season rolls out. It's not based off some silly gimmick (such as a boy who has to nibble a girls ear or something so he can transform from a scrawny kid into a serious hero), or hidden in obscene references to undergarments: there's a serious story there. But there aren't enough pretty boys or large-breasted women to catch anyone's attention, or maybe the concept isn't fun or new enough. So, mostly, it's forgotten.
Would anyone happen to know some series along that vein? Something with a serious story (nothing foolish and juvenile, please), as mentioned above. Any genre will do, but please omit any slice of life, romantic comedies or school life series.
It would be helpful if you gave a bit of information about the series. Genres and themes, a small summary (no spoilers, please), pros and cons, that sort of thing.
I'm asking a lot, I know. Any help is appreciated.
