I am young, and I live in Montana, I hike a lot. I haven't run into anything yet, but I probably will. I want a dog, a good dog that will... patrol I guess you'd say. I thought about getting a wolf cause they would let me know if a danger was near. I have 2 dogs already, one will probably cower behind me, the other would attack it. I don't take the one that would attack it. She's a great dog, I don't want her dead anytime soon. I'm looking for a beautiful dog that will get along with all my other dogs. Will be fine off leash. That will protect our house. That is great fun to play with :D And if I do run into something, I sometimes don't take a gun... And even if I did take a gun, which I have many I can take, I would just rather not kill a bear or wolf, or anything that tries to kill me. It would be nice to have a dog that can help me ward it away, but not hurt it. Lol I know that's asking much, but dogs are amazing, they're are so many breeds that do different things. I was thinking a husky, or malamute. I don't know. Right now I have a GSDx with we don't know. And my dog, which we have no idea what he is, he's black, floppy ears, he shepards, white spot on his chest. I love him he's a beautiful dog. so any ideas? Hints? information? I want the dog to be able to stand by me if the bear/wolf or whatever is challenging. I just want the dog to stand by me if something did attack. If a bear challenged and had attacked, I want the dog to at least give me time to get away. If its a wolf, and it attacked, I would help my dog, A bear is the only thing I would leave my dog to die protecting me. I understand that wolves do not travel alone, When I am out about that far into the forest or on a mountain I have 2 dogs, at least another person. And the people I hang out with usually have another dog to scout ahead. They would also help their dog if it was something like wolf attacking.
