...to stay in Earth's orbit. However,? A satellite has to maintain a constant velocity of 28 800 KM/Hour in order to stay in Earth's orbit. However, Moon has 3 679 KM/Hour. Still it does not fall.
 
Orbital speed is linked to distance from parent body. Moon is dozens of times farther than close orbit satellite, so its orbital speed is lower. This is one of Kepler's laws.
