Hi, let's use a water analogy: DC is like water being pumped along a channel, if you put a propeller in the channel it will take energy from the water which you could use to do work (eg turn a stone to grind flour).
AC is the same but you pump it one way, then back the other. The water doesn't go anywhere but it could still turn the stone back and forth to grind the flour
I dont understand though, where does the DC, in this example water, go to? is AC like a closed system where the current cant escape and DC the current gets earthed or something similar?
