Access denied after downloading torrent?

I have been downloading torrents for the past few days on my laptop, then transferring them via a external HDD onto my desktop. I am able to access the file at this point, however when I move it to another location on the same drive the whole folder becomes inaccessible. I have turned off anything that maybe using the folder/file i.e. indexing, MSN/Google Desktop etc.
can anyone please help?
