I just got off the phone with Directv. They are telling me even if I buy a used receiver from someone (store or ebay) that I have to pay the $20 for the new access card as well as the $5 a month fee for the receiver, whether it's leased or bought.
the question is if that is really the case. Do you get charged $5 a month for each receiver even if you buy your equipment?
I understand the whole lease arrangement, but why should I pay $5 a month if I own the equipment?
