ActiveSync Proxy settings - can it be done?

I'm trying to get my O2 Xda to connect to my works Exchange Server, now I've managed to get Outlook on my laptop to connect but that's because there is a place to put the proxy server. There doesn't appear to be anywhere to put this in ActiveSync 4.5 or on my WM6 Xda - I can put the POP settings in but it then deletes all my emails from the server - help!
