Adderall/Modafinil: Should I take them to better my studies?

I'm not sure which to take: Adderall or Modafinil. With Adderall, I hear it is more effective for school and gives you a rush but the down side being that it is an amphetamine and I think we've all seen the pictures of meth heads and what they look like after extended use of amphetamines. I certainly don't want that long term effect.

But Modafinil I hear is good but not as effective for school work and studying but it's a lot cleaner and safer.
