In a huge trade between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox, the Dodgers have landed star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. While the trade includes nearly a dozen players and hundreds of millions of dollars, the main theme of the trade is the Dodgers really, really wanting Gonzalez.

It’s understandable that Gonzalez would make a lot of sense for the Dodgers. He’s from the area and his Mexican-American heritage will help attract fans to the ballpark. Oh, and now the Dodgers are now a much better team and could very well make the 2012 baseball playoffs.

The Dodgers will also be receiving Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Nick Punto. The Red Sox will get James Loney and a group of prospects.
