After watching Game of Thrones season 1 and 2, could I read the 3rd book and not be

confused? i assume that the show is not 100% accurate (what show is)..but im wondering after watching season 1 and 2 of the show could i pick up the 3rd book and not be that confused?..like will i at least have a basic understanding of whats goin on
