I just got 2 cane corso pups. The male is 10 months old and is intact and the female is almost 6 months old. The ten month old male is very standoffish with my girlfriend to the point he will snap and growl at her. He listens to most commands i give him and some she does. but when she tries to reward him he jumps away and sometimes snaps at her. I was wondering if someone could help me break these habits with him because he is such a good dog other wise. I've owned stubborn Staffordshire bull terriers, boxers, and dobermans. I completely understand the dominance. My girlfriend has been bit by a dog before and with him acting this way she is sort of scared of him but wants to be his friend.

Any suggestions?

He sounds as if he may be dominant aggressive to her, perhaps because he sees that she is lesser in status to you and is challenging her. Get in an animal behaviourist to help change the status in the house. She must try to be more dominant in her attitude to your dog. You must also support her and if the dog shows any aggression let him know that this is not acceptable.
Get her to feed him, make him sit and wait 2 minutes before allowing him to eat, if need be put him on a leash. Make sure he is fed after you and your GF eat. If she is willing, get her to do obedience classes with him, a dog that obeys you respects you, and that is the issue here, no respect.
Get him desexed, this helps with aggression in 50% of cases. It really is best to get profesisonal help as these things tend to get worse with age, not better.
