Aim group chat invite timed out?

Every time I try to start a group chat on AIM i keep getting the error "Invite or request timed out". Also, when my friends try to send me a chat invite, nothing comes up. I have tried the chat feature on 3 different computers and none of them seem to work. I have also tried meebo and tokbox and still no luck. Does this have anything to do with my screen name or the server I am on?
