Air Conditioning for 2004 Toyota Corolla?

The air condition suddenly stopped working and I have been trying to fix it with no success. I checked the fuse, it was good. I tried to recharge the freon but it wouldn't take as if it was full. When turning the switch on the RPMs change and you can feel the AC kick in. But the air doesn't get cold. The compressor never seems to kick in as if its low on freon but once again it doesn't seem to take any when I try to recharge it. Any ideas?

Careful with that stuff, I know older varieties could cause blindness, I doubt new ones are any better.

If it happened over time, it likely needs a leak check and recharging.

You saw it happened suddenly though so a leak is unlikely, unless it was a serious leak. Sounds to me like the A/C compressor.

Usually places will check the A/C system for free. I know several around me do. I suggest you do that.
