alfa romeo 147 gear problem?

my alfa romeo 147 is normally fine but sometimes (getting more frequent) it is impossible to put into 5th or reverse. I have tried pulling away in 5th when the car has been working ok and the clutch seems fine. any other ideas please?

Check the transmission or gear linkages. Might need fluid topped up or a new transmission.

Sounds like either the linkage has worn or maybe there's a leak in the hydraulics. Have you checked the fluid reservoir?
