Almost had a Harley Owner talked into buying a Japanese Cruiser, but he bought...

...a new HD instead? How did I fail?
I had him talked into a Yamaha Star, Roadstar, he went to the dealer, took a test ride and loved the bike, got a great price and trade in price, that was much less then a new Harley.
Instead, he got a new HD
he traded in his HD Fat Boy for an Electra Glide
I failed to convert him, what did i do wrong?
Should I blame myself for this failure, or was it going to happen no matter what I did?
