Am I required to have a "Simply Everything" plan with the Samsung Instinct I

purchased from a friend? I purchased a Samsung Instinct from a friend who no longer wants it and has since purchased a new phone to use with the Sprint network. I would just like to know that since I did not receive the rebates, etc. that come with purchasing the phone new and signing a new 2 year agreement... am I STILL required to choose one of the simply everything plans when I go to activate this phone on my account? Ya ya.. I understand that you kinda want a simply everything plan to get the full effect from the phone.. just kinda curious since my bill will go up pretty significantly. Thanks for the help!
